I have owned two other Mustangs previously, a 79 Mustang Cobra with the 2.3 Turbo engine (my first car which I purchased in 1985) which I sold to buy an brand new 88 Mustang LX with the 5.0 engine. I sold the 88 LX in 1991 and have been "Mustangless" since. My new years resolution for 2001 was to get back into a Mustang of some sort. I was always interested in the SVO since I owned the 79 Cobra Turbo during the years that the SVO was in production and I especially like the idea owning a fairly rare and limited production Mustang. I purchased my 1986 Jalepeno Red, SVO from it's third owner in Warren, Michigan in May of 2001. It was 99.9% stock and has a sunroof and a cloth interior. It had just under 37,000 miles on it and was in almost perfect condition. I say almost because the SVO did have an slightly worn shift knob (I am beginning to think they came that way from the factory) and one of the previous owners had replaced the L.H tailpipe from the muffler back with an "aluminized" replacement. I have since picked up a stock replacement tailpipe that will be installed this summer. I purchased the car as a sunny day and weekend only car. The SVO will also see an occasional car show and SVO/SVT club on-track fun.
