I am the third owner of this 86 1C (black) SVO. It has a cloth interior and no sunroof. I purchased it in September 1991 with just over 57,000 miles. I took it out for a test drive and was hooked. I scraped up some cash, got a loan for the remainder of the balance (with some assistance from the folks) and drove it home. This was my first "real" car. I drove the car for a couple of months and put it away for winter storage. Since then I have used winter storage time for most of my resto/mods. My most recent project was having the car repainted with a better-than-factory black/clearcoat paint job. The dealership body shop (yes, but this is not your ordinary dealership body shop) did a great job, with very few flaws. I replaced the doors and hatchback with new factory Ford sheetmetal, due to salt/rust damage. Word of warning: You can no longer get pre-87 doors, without a thorough search! I opted to get the 87-93 doors and have them modified. While I would like to restore my car to factory specs, I don't think this car is right for that. It has a questionable damage history (looks like it has been in two minor accidents) and I am not ready for a true restoration just yet. I don't ever plan on getting rid of this car, so it will always be my tinker/cruise/race car. What I learned on my former 2.3L cars has been applied to this one with positive results, so far. You may view my Dyno plot from Carlisle. Up till now I have only drag raced my car (best = 13.7X@100mph), but would like to try auto-x at some time (what the car was really made for). I wanted to make the car mine, but still maintain the SVO character and mystique. You be the judge.
