it's not brain surgery -- I'm sure you can handle it

Just make sure you get that bracket back in -- some people have thought it was not needed, and left it out, only to crack their new manafold shortly there after

Make sure not to miss wedding anniverseries, birthdays or valentines day, and you will be safe, loved and forgiven. Along the way, remind her that it's legal and still cheaper than crack.

After all that, buying a few spare parts cars will only make sense, even to your wife.
You know Pat, If you just buy a couple more SVO's you will be living in a pretty nice house! Either that or you will have a wide selection of SVO's to sleep in!!-LOL!!

This hasn't been mentioned yet but very important if you don't want a mess, drain your coolant before unhooking line to turbo.

Hey thanks I forgot about that one.

Speaking of lines I was thinking of using a braided oil feed line from Motion Dynamics. Has anyone one used one of these and had luck with it ?

            nice but

I had one on my ATR set up but it hit the header and fried. Now I have a rod header the stock oil line from them fit like a champ.

either will work but I like the stock style and it is cheaper.

Well its about summer time so I'm taking the SVO off line to get her ready for her ORR and maybe a Turbo shoot out in October.

Anyways I wanted to double check on this coolant drainning. If my T-3 is just oil cool ( by oil lubeing) , will I need to drian the oil some to take the Turbo off without a mess? Sorry its such a newb question but I didn't know if once the engine is off if it all ran back to the pan or not. I want to say some stays in the turbo and that is why you let it cool down after a hard run.

I just put an e6 in my '86. You might get a few drops or a small puddle, but nothing that a couple of paper towels can't handle.

It was my experience that it was best to remove the starterand engine shockmount for easy access. I removed the oil drain tube from the bottom of the turbo and fished it through the support bracket. It was not an easy one-man operation.

If I had to do it over, I would remove the two lower exhaust to turbo nuts and remove the support braket before taking the manifold and turbo out together. One of the nuts you can get a ratchet on, the other is about a 1/4 turn at a time. It may save you a little aggrevation.

Oh yeah, don't forget to get a new oil drain line gasket before you start. It is not something you can pick up last minute from your local auto parts store.

BTDT with my 'new' Bob's log header, it now is cracked between the #2 & #3 cylinders because the car didn't have a brace when I started this project.
I now have a brace (thanks to the local Pic-n-Pull), I just have to find the time to replace the header after I get it welded!

Would Ford carry this anymore are is that a dumb question Also what about Motion Dynamics, would they carry them? I'm thinking of ordering my gaskets from then along with a braided oil feed line. I hear that line may break by twisting up on me

Motion will have it. Felpro makes a trubo gasket kit, but it is something your local auto parts would more than likely have to order.

If your getting stuff from motion, you might consider the stainless steel bolt selection. Give the guys a call and tell them what you are doing so they can make sure you have everything for the job.

I'm a Fel-Pro man my self What about this stainless bolt section? Do you mean the sock replacement oil feed line? Is it better to go back stock than to use a braided line?

I've emailed Motion but haven't heard back from them so I will give them a call Monday. I was just in Austin and should have stoped by but wasn't ready to pull this apart at the time It kind a sucks not being able to drive it and to have to park it for a months worth of work is going to be rough. I got with draws already

The stainless bolt set referred to above is the studs/locknuts that mount the turbo to the exhaust manifold - nothing to do with the oil feed/drain lines.

                                Gaskets to install turbo

The Felpro gasket set with all the gaskets you need to reinstall the turbo is part number ES 72811

You can buy it at most any auto parts store that carries Felpro for abour $5-6. They probably will NOT have it in stock(don't ask me why). They will need to special order it and that will probably take a couple of days.

I advise buying several at a time and keeping a couple on hand for yourself or for one of your turboford buddies who may need it!
