  • The stitching is not totally correct. On the stock seats, the horizontal stitching on the back top pieces - the fold down pieces - goes all the way to the outer edge of the seat. And iirc, the perforations do as well. On JAX seat covers, only the top horizontal stitch goes to the outer edge (not the ones below it), and the perforations stop before that, as well.

Honestly I like the look of it better, it makes the back seat stitching look more like the front seats. But it is not 'concourse correct'. If you found an SVO knowledgeable MCA/Mustang judge in an actual judging event (not participants judging), you would get marked lower for that. If there is such a thing as a knowledgeable MCA SVO judge....

But the local shows, or even regional ones, no one will notice except for us rabid SVO fans. No one noticed at the Queen Mary show.

Regarding the color, I don't know if any one of them is 100% correct, I only know that L905 is darker than stock. Barely. I could tell when my car was parked next to Meothh's and Turbofiend31's cars last month. If you are looking at mine all by itself, you probably wouldn't notice. Texture is the same, and leather quality is MUCH BETTER than stock - these will last a long time.

Bottom line, if you are willing to overlook these couple of minor things, JAX is the best I could find outside of going completely custom - and that was BIG $$$$.

None I know of ... The ones I know seem to think they're knowledgeable - about everything Mustang - in reality, they're not. Just full of hot air.

      • Off topic...

The Mustang Times editor, Mary Jean Wesche, did her Op-Ed piece this month on how "We", being all Mustang fans, should acknowledge and appreciate all types of Mustangs. She said it wasn't right to snub somebody just for their preference of the Mustang they choose to own and drive.

I got a pretty good laugh at least.

Should I scan the article and post it? Is that allowed?

        • Thanks for the input on the seat colors. The L900 looked a tad bit closer to me but then again the swatches are so small it's really hard to tell. I'm only going to do the front seats so either way the color won't mach the back 100% anyway. I am going to order the L900 in the next couple of weeks, when I get them I'll let everyone know.

          Thanks again,

          Kevin

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I was doing a search on SVO leather seats and this is what came up. These seats look awesome. I am considering adding SVO leathers to my Capri, bc I am not fully happy with the regular halo seats.

And as for Mary-Jean (her name is actually hyphenated from what I remember), I had the pleasure of working with her at Mustang Monthly many years ago. She originally hailed from CT, and she has got to be one of the sweetest women I've ever had the opportunity of working with and a true Mustang die-hard. What a great woman to know. She called me her adoptive son when I worked with her, cause I moved down from NY and had no family in FL.

Anyway I digress, glad to see a name I know and glad to have seen these seats. Awesome stuff.

              • TMI upholstery is also now reproducing the leather upholstery for the SVO's. I saw it first hand at Carlisle and they look to be very nicely done. If the quality of those covers are as good as the ones I put on my wife's 5.0 this spring then I would recomend checking with TMI. I asked them about doing the cloth seats, and the response I got was that they were not yet able to reproduce the center material.

                • Funny you mention TMI as I too saw it at Carlisle and liked what I saw, but wasn't 100% correct. I also personally inspected my friends 86 GT convertible yesterday who just had a full leather kit installed. It looked great.

                      • Jax seat covers

I purchased these last year from Jax and installed them myself. I have hog ring pliers for $10 that I will never use again in my life for the next person taking the recovery challange.

                            • I don't think they are. The web site is under construction and their phone number (414)744-1907 has been disconnected. I tried to order from them last week. I really needed to get a set too.
