    Agreed

That paint job does look sweet though - the painter knows what he's doing ( hopefully he also knows how to follow instructions! )

well I think the consensus generally is, if you want to paint something up in a custom color, use a 2A, 1C, 1E, 2R, heck, anything but 4E, the one 84 9L, or 7B.

there were so few of those, it's worth it to keep their original color.

          Guys and Gals,
Thanks so much for all the help in identifying the color mistake. Yup, it was painted incorrectly. I have emailed the body shop and look forward to hearing from them shortly. The car looks good, but its not correct. I have decided that the car is too unique to change anything on it, so its back to the paint booth for more color. The good news is that by the time they take care of that, the body moldings should be dry and ready to put back on. Damn..I was so excited too! Oh well, live and learn right? Later,

Glad to see your going to keep it original. I want a 4E BAD!!!

              There's the problem!!

              All,
Found out today that the paint given to the body shop was incorrect. The can said 4e, but it wasnt. I sent them a pic of the proper color car and they were blown away. They are going back to the paint company and get the proper color to re-shoot the car next week. Thanks again to everyone for spotting the mistake. It could have been a lot worse! I will update more later!

I think you are out to restore it to original so that is why we were pointing it out

Please post pics of BOTH cans of paint color so the SVO Community has reference material for future use, thanks. (correct and incorrect cans)

Maybe it had some gold overspray from the stripes that were on it making it look metallic?

Nope, paint code 4E is Dark Sage Green. If the shop was told to paint it by the original paint code, then that's it, but if they tried to match what was on the car, then I could see that mistake.

I can't say that I've seen this color on many other Fords of that vintage, so that could've played a part in it too. Who'd a thunk Ford would paint a car a solid pea-soup green? No wonder its so rare!
My wife says it's a sickness...what do you think?

Not at all! My thanks go out to the SVO Community for all the help they have given me. The process has been long and at times frustrating, but it will all be worth it in the end. At first I was going to go away from original , but I am glad my thought processes got in line! Its original all the way or nothing at all. Thanks again for everyone's support and for watching out for me! I will post more pics after the re-shoot!

                            Hey Guys and Gals,
The car is out of the paint booth. Here are some pics of it. They are far from finished with it, but I wanted to get some new pics up so you can let me know what you think.
