    LSC Axels fit SVO

I just got back from the shop and a side by side comparison of the SVO axel and the 1988 Lincoln LSC axels appear to allow for interchange. The only difference is the Attenuator ring, which the Mech said he would remove. The other mechanic at the shop said that we could even leave the ring and it would clear. So I don’t know about you guys but I was unable to find this explicitly stated anywhere on the interwebs. If they install them today, and experience no problems I think we can be the Proof that this is a viable used source for SVO axels. The 88 had an 8.8 and as we know the SVO is a 7.5, but it looks like it will work, same tooth count, same diameters at all contact points. More to follow…..

UPDATE: The Shop called, and the Axels are in, and work.

Bottom line: 84-92 Lincoln LSC 8.8 Axels can be swaped into the 7.5 SVO.

      Companion for SVO

Just got home with a 2010 GT. It’s a tight fit, but both fit in the garage.

        Fender Change done

Removed and replaced the denteddrivers fender, went smoothly, not issues. Now I have a full set of left over SVO fenders to part with.

Next step, get a set of daily driver head lights to drive to paint shop.

Thanks Chalky, As soon as the parts get here from Larry_S i may have a question or two about how to install the buckets. I also broke one of the upper mount brackets, i epoxied it back together and after it dries i'll sand to match, hopefully. By the way, the fender is the one you sold me. Looks good last long time

The Header panel was cracked at the upper tab, used JB weld (Thanks for the tip) It looks close in color http://s948.photobucket.com/albums/ad323/Ismythe/SVO/ and installed the sealed beam mount buckets, fits fine. Glad to have it back to original. Still need to wire the lights, but it's progress.

Sorry I missed the last few posts. The 84 -86 lincolns used a 7.5 rear end. In 86 when the 8.8 was introduced most of the LSCs got the 8.8 but a few got the 7.5. From the archives http://www.svoca.com/forum/showthrea...light=mark+vii

Finished changing the light back to the 84 style: Wired up, works as advertised. I also took the time to do a final install of the sail panels and the faux bi-wing delete spoiler. That means that the car is now water tight and road ready. Can now drive is I choose. Next is the corrosion rework in the ceiling around the factory sun roof. I already treated the corrosion, now I need to paint the inside, and do the headliner. I wanted to use the factory style vinyl, but will probably just use the standard fabric available at the local store. Still on track to have it done in time for Roundup in july.

Turn signal lense fell off! i glued it back on at a temp fix. will replace with new after paint. The wipers stopped, found another on a ranger, works fine. and i found the right trim for the rear hatch, minor update, but it's been really rainy lately.

Great Tom. You going to the Bellevue show?

The rain has barely let up one day in the past week down here.

The repaired headlight tab broke while driving. Does anyone have a good repair strategy for these things? http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/a...O/IMG_0531.jpg

Repaird light tab with a deck board clip, talk about letting my mississippi roots show.......

Also got serious about the paint prep have an appointment with paint shop in 3 days, have to have it in primer by then. Pics on my photobucket see link above.

ONly problem...what color. Started out wanting dark blue, but have drifted towards the regata blue or original silver. while puting on some self etching primer on the bare spots i got an idea to go with the green metalic like the 2007 mustang.....

                              Any one have an opinion?

                                Paint Update

Prep Continues, Sanding, glazing rock chips, sanding, cleaning.... I think that I can lay down epoxy primer this weekend. I bought the Eastwood all in one kit with the concourse spray gun, assorted materials, primer ect.... Trying to have it painted before Roundup. Still not set on the color. After checking with WESCO autobody on price for 1E PPG paint, (1000 dollars!) I am going to use the EASTWOOD paint palet, so...
My son thinks that an 84 GT350 style white, with maroon accents would look good. I'm thinking more in the blue family, something that is close to Regatta Blue. The test for the color is, "Is it something that will not show up at roundup, will it be the only one, but not crazy, no pinks or purples.... "
