        Primer!

Shot Primer this morning, took three hours, but it looks great. Still need to wet sand. Found that the Eastwood Conourse Gun did a good job when the compressor was at full charge, but not so much with the compressor motor running. Need a bigger compressor if I'm going to do the color as well. Considering having that done by a pro. Still stuck on color, Silver 1E (Stock color) , Twilight blue 7F ( 88 turbocoupe style) or Regatta blue 7H (86 Gt style).

Two weeks and 12 hours until Round Up..........

Looks great! only problem if you change color you need to dis-assemble the car more to get in the jambs and such and behind the bumpers

nice choice of blue (tbird) i liked that color

              Lookin' good so far

I've been liking the Light Regatta Blue here lately. Here is an 86 coupe that was for sale at Carlisle that I really would have liked to picked up. It needed some paint and minor bodywork but was otherwise fairly nice.

I have not decided yet if I'm going to dissassemble it more or not. I agree that it would be better, thats why the silver and the regatta blue are strong choices. With the Regatta blue it is less important because it is in the silver family and wont show as bad. If the Dark blue, it will be a bigger job.

I did some post primer sanding today, I'm definatley gonna have to make up my mind this week.

The spoiler is just sitting there for the pic, but the spats are another matter. I want to take them off, time permitting, but to get to them i have to gut the interior, not a job that i have time or energy for right now.

I spent some time cleaning up the trim strips today. Question. Does anyone know where i can get anymore of the aluminium backing strips?

                    Thanks

For the Spats you can remove them by taking out the lower rear seat and the small trim cover panel down below , they should be easy from there.
The Sail Panels ...yes they take a bit more work to get them off and require more interior removal.
For the trim strips I removed the aluminum backing from the strip so they were totally flexible and applied two sided automotive trim tape to the back side and re-installed after paint of course.
WARNING.. removing the aluminum backing takes patience I was using a utility knife and cut myself = 15 stitches OUCH!!

                        Thanks,
I thought I'd have to remove the sides again. I will take the spats off, but the sail panels were already off, I cleaned and resealed the holes under them before I put the interior back in after the replacement of the headliner. They will stay as is for the paint.
I removed the aluminum backing with no problems, I have been involved in safety for many years and can see how easy it would be to slip and take a blade to the hand. I used an exacto knife to start the tip, then i grabbed the tape/backer with a pair of duckbills and pulled while the trim was retained under the shelf at a 90 degree angle, it came out smooth. I thought about the normal 3M tape, but thought that maybe the aluminum stuff may be out there too. I’m good with either option.

Update: Spats are off, Sanding contunues.....

                          Frack!

I thought that Round up was the weekend of 24th and 25th. Timed paint shop appointment for this weekend. Just found out that Round up is this weekend. NO SVO for the Show. I am so disapointed. I guess it gives me 367 days to finish it. As I sit here writing this the flat bed is on it's way to take it to the paint shop. ......
