After spending a lot of time with my machine shop working on this spare head I have decided to pull the engine and transmission. I really wanted to have it in paint sooner but the more I learned I decided to take out the last of any possible unknowns. I may not be as pretty as everyone at the reunion. However, I'll be ready for the dragon.

You definitely are motivated. Progress, progress, progress. I wasn't sure if I was going to try and go to the reunion but I might just try so that I can see the finished product you are working on. Mine on the other hand is not going to be ready. I will have the engine together but there will still be a lot of small things to finish before it will be on the road.Chad

Thanks pal. I'm getting there. Building this new engine will be worth it. I'm very fortunate my engine builder retired from Roush Racing a year ago. He has his own small machine shop and builds for all the local racers and still is building some engines for NASCAR. This engine is going to be a stock profile. I am having it Blue Printed and Balanced. I'm also upgrading to ARP Rod bolts and ARP Head studs. I need to call Evergreen tomorrow about sending the turbo in.

Oil Cooler Seal Solution. I know people probably have found others. I just thought I would share my solution. I noticed some people have found $15 to $20 seals. However, I found a seal from an Oil Filter from Car Quest PN R85378 for about $8 dollars. I know seems a shame to toss a good filter but this seal fits perfectly. It has a trapered round that drops into the cooler and a flat side that faces the engine block. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.
