    • Yes I agree the glass ones would be stronger. T Top Dave was kind enough and had a set I brought from him. However, after the body shop and I looked at what it was going to take to fit them. I decided to search out a set from 1984. Don't get me wrong the glass would work and look nice with a little finesse and 3M Tape. I would be curious to know how they pulled the splash for the molds. Mainly if it was when they were on the car or not. The used ones are in perfect flexible shape. The shop reccommended I glass bead them to strip and not to chemical strip them. I guess we'll see

      • Good body shop advice on the blasting method vs the chemical strip. The plastic will absorb the solvent in the chemical stripping agent and can cause your body shop guys fits when trying to lay on the new base/paint. My shop sent my plastic pieces out for blasting by a shop that specialized in stripping non-metal parts. They apparently used walnut shells to strip my parts. Apparenlty the walnut media, while aggressive enough to remove the paint, but not so much as to remove the base plastic material. I am looking forward to the freshly painted update pics!

        • interesting.. the fibreglass ones I got took about 15 minutes for me (amateur at best) to fit them
don't want it to sound like I'm pushing just trying to say what I did with my 2 86. That's the 2nd set of the fiberglass I've installed, and most people would never know if I didn't mention it.

          • Mine didn't really follow the body contour with out having to flex them to follow or remove too much material. I'll keep them in storage for now. Hopefully, the 84s hold up.

            • Body Shop Pictures

Just stopped by the shop today. They are pulling the car in the shop tomorrow to start fitting up panels. These are some pictures of the Nose and Rear hatch being worked on. Little victories. More tomorrow I hope.

              • The part stripping continues. The rocker moldings are in pretty good shape. I'm going to let the body shop get the little dings out.

                • Bumper Cover progress

I stopped by the body shop today. I have more pictures coming. I was amazed at the progress they made on the Bumper Cover and Hatch. Consider what he had to work with I am very pleased.

                        • Thanks Eric. Yes it took them 2 days solid to get that cover back in shape. Had to strip it all the way down. Remove bad material that had been exposed and add material to it. It appeared when it was painted before of many times before and it was not primed. So far so good
