That's exactly what they're doing. Everything will have a smooth consistent primed surface. They're also using a PPG Epoxy Primer. This poor car has had soooo much bad body work it's been quite an adventureOriginally posted by gbeaird View PostAre they just touching the places up before they get a nice smooth primer coat over the entire car? Looks odd to be doing bits and pieces there.
He's been correcting everything. He found areas I never even noticed and corrected them. There were area's with bondo that were 1/4 inch thick and removed and straightened everything correctly. It's been quite the journey.

Did he strip it down to the bare metal? Just curious? I have had several parts soda blasted on mine. The hood, the hatch, front bumper , rear bumper, sail panels, rear spoiler, the rear moldings , and front fenders. I had the spats bead blasted. This all came out nice. I have them at the body shop primed and waiting. I am going to get the rest of the car soda blasted then bring it to him on a roll back. He is swamped with all of the fender benders from the "snow storm" we had so I am waiting on getting the rest of the car blasted. I did not realize it was so expensive. I paid $ 500 dollars just for the parts I listed and he wants another $600 dollars to do the rest of the car. I think on my 90 SSP I will just take it to the body shop and let him do what he wants as long as it turns out good. The 90 still wears its original paint so it will not be as bad were as the svo had multiple paint jobs and layers of paint still on it. This has been more leg work and back breaking work than I wanted to tackle. Anyway, sorry to take over your thread I just got to typing.Chad

I feel you pain my SVO brother. Yes he took everything down to bare metal. It was the only way to ensure there were no surprises. I was able to glass bead all of my moldings clean. I still need to locate someone to soda blast my spoiler. However, we are a couple weeks out before the grey accent work is done. Should have some new pictures soon. Restoring one correctly is not for the faint of heart or check book.Originally posted by inerceptor View PostDid he strip it down to the bare metal? Just curious?
