The company I am using for the wheels is Metro Wheels. I've seen their work. I was impressed at the attention to detail. They check the wheels for structural and runout issues to make sure they are viable resto candidates. The set I dropped out had some minor vertical and lateral runout along with some curb rash and easily corrected. They glass bead the entire wheel, fill any gouges and lathe the wheel, and the last step is clear powder coat .
I need to drop off my spats tomorrow and pickup my moldings from the body shop so I can glass bead them. Hopefully, I'll have progress pictures.

I also had one of my sets of wheels done at Metro. They came out pretty nice. There were only a few tiny defects in the clear powdercoat from being cooked in the oven to cure. It is outgassing due to the wheels being forged aluminum and not billet.
Not enough to worry about and I'll be getting another set done the same way sometime in the future. The powdercoating is much more durable than the high temp clear paint.

The shop that does the powder coating should 'bake' the wheels at least a couple times BEFORE putting the powder coating on to minimize the outgassing. A local powder shop held a seminar and explained how they pre-bake/process any kind of cast metal parts, especially if the parts are in contact with any kind of lubricant. Just something to keep in mind. Looking forward to see the 'fresh' wheels.Ted

They mentioned they baked them a couple of times. Now I now I understand why. Learn something new everyday ! I'll post pictures when I get them.
