I agree with Gene, your blue looks very 'rich' compared to a couple other 7B's I have seen. I always thought the factory version was a bit more 'silver' in its tone, but yours has a very nice simple 'metallic' touch to it. I am sure it even looks better in person! Looking forward to the 'complete' shot.Ted

I think some of the richness is contributed to the fact we did the car as a base coat with a clear-coat. Then they color sanded and polished it out. The color appears a little darker I think due to my cheap point and shoot camera and it's still inside. It does have a more silver tone. I wanted it to be the correct 7B color although adding a clear does make it look richer and protects the base. The most nerve racking color was getting the gray as close to correct in tone. We did a test shot using the PPG paint code but the gray had a purple hue to it. They ended up sampling an unfaded area under the window trim I think the results came out pretty good. I can't wait until I get the restored wheels back on it.Originally posted by svono50 View PostI agree with Gene, your blue looks very 'rich' compared to a couple other 7B's I have seen. There are a lot of factors that 'play' with a picture's colors as compared to seeing it first hand. In any case, it looks great. I had a similar quandry with my repaint on the trim. My body shop guy felt that the gray was too light in contrast to the black, so I ended up having him match the gray on my tail lights, which is a few shades darker. Personally I liked how it came out, so what matters to you is most important.Ted

I used the PPG paint code when we reshot the gray parts on our 86. They screwed something up in that they came out glossy, which is really growing on me, but yes, it has a slight lavender hue to it, especially under fluorescent lights.Gene Beaird,

Now that's interesting ! We had the same glossy result and lavender hue on the test spray. My Body guy had worked with the PPG guy to get that paint code listed on the site. I remember the shop had commented it came as what he called a "Dealer Pack" color or something like that. To be honest we thought it was a mistake so we decided to match it from a non faded area and mixed it in the PPG mixing center. Here's an outside shot from this morning. They just attached the quarter moldings.Originally posted by gbeaird View PostI used the PPG paint code when we reshot the gray parts on our 86.
