  • Trust me, it's a lot easier to put on outside the car. I had to replace a manifold and bracket while the engine was still in.
It's not a lot of fun getting the fasteners tightened on that bracket

I believe that pal. I've been doing everything I possibly can before dropping everything back in. I have been checking and rechecking everything. Hopefully, I will have one before this weekend. If not I'm going to hold until then. I'm lucky I have a lift and still would not be fun as a later install. I keep telling myself it will all be worth it. I know it will.

      • I wonder if the vehicles missing the bracket had their turbos out previously and the shop/owner decided not to put it back on due to it adding complexity to the reinstall or just plain laziness?? Due to clearances on the top mounting points, the turbo has to be tightned onto the manifold in an up-n-down method to get everything together...much easier on the workbench than under the car for sure!

I think you right on the money with both scenarios. I can see even with a lift how someone would not want to fight with it. The logic is "Heck it's got 4 big studs and nuts it'll be ok" . Or they turned around saw it on the bench after they finished the assembly. Then said the same thing.

                      • Nice. Looks like a brand new car in the engine compartment. Boo, no A/C! Oh well, it still looks awesome. Wish I were that far along in my project.

Oh believe me there will be AC ! The 134 conversion kit was out of stock. Hopefully, I will have it in a couple of weeks. All the brackets have been glass beaded and painted and cleared. Way to hot in the south for no Air

                              • It's the kit from Late Model Restoration. It's specifically designed for the SVO. It comes with the Compressor, Condensor, Hoses, Drier etc... Basically, it's everything and except 134 refrigerant. They state the compressor already has the Oil charge already in it. The important thing is to flush the evaporator and make sure you use a vacuum pump to completely evac the system and check for leaks. I've heard great comment about it. The kit sells for $800.00 approx.
