  • Alright so I just got a heck of a deal (thank you craigslist). I bought 4 like brand new 17x9 Cobra R wheels. Well the guy I bought them from said that they came off of his 98 Cobra which he bought new - an put the aftermarket chrome verson of the same wheels on about 1000 miles later. But as far as I know 98 Cobra wheels are 17x8 so I'm not sure which ones they are - they are actual Ford wheels - which is awesome because I got all 4 for $200 (with Ford SVT center caps!). Anyway I scrolled through this huge thread and I might have gone too quickly but I didn't find a definite answer as to what would need to be done to fit a 17x9 Cobra (or Cobra R) style wheel on a stock SVO. Anyone feel like helping me out here?

    Thanks in advance - Mark
    I'm 21 and I've owned 3 SVO's... Yeah I like 'em.

    • I know the fender lips will need to be rolled. I am willing to bet you got the 98 cobra if they have an SVt emblem in the middle. They resembel Cobvra R's but are a little differnt. Congrats on the deal. wish i could find something like that around here

          • Thanks!

Luckily in that photo you can't see the hail dents, chipped paint and a spot of bondo that is coming loose.

              • hey guys, i was wondering if would be able to run a >245 tire without rolling my fenders on a 96-98 cobra rim if i machined and took off a few mm from the inner rim mating surface?

                • I would be concerned about the tires rubbing on the front struts.

                    • Nice pics. I really like those wheels. Is your car lowered? No suspension mods? (SN95 spindles?)

                      Do they stick out any?

Prior owner installed 1 in spacers in the rear and now it doesn't hit any more. I may roll the rear fenders and bring the car back down again in time!
ok... I found a set of 03 mach one rims locally here for a good deal. Ive searched this thread to see if they fit and I was happy to see that it has been done. I see that you have said that you dont have to modify the suspension, but is there anything else that needs to be done to make them work with our cars?

                                Thank you, Ryan
